Behaviour
Steer the base model along a direction on the chart and read what it writes, beside what the blind judge scored it.
what is this?
Any direction on the chart is a weighted mix of adapters, so it can be added to the base model's weights to steer it. We add a direction at strength α (α = 2 is about one adapter's worth), generate answers to a fixed set of open-ended prompts, and have a blind judge (Claude Sonnet 4.5, not told the trait) rate each answer from 1 to 7 on the five Big Five scales.
This is where the project's claims are weakest, so the page puts the judge's numbers beside the text they were given for, and you can read it yourself.
Dose–response
Pick a direction and a dose. Judged means on the left, the generations on the right.
The OCEAN dials
Persona Cartography's dials three ways: as steering axes, as stage-one adapters, as merged personas. Independent dials would each have one long spoke.
Steering axes at alpha ±2
the five named Big Five keying axes added to the weights
Stage-one adapters
the positively and negatively keyed stage-one adapters per factor (ten and ten, except Emotional Stability at six and fourteen), averaged
Deployed personas
the same twenty traits per factor as full two-stage persona adapters
notes
Persona Cartography showed that Big Five adapters work like dials. Each polygon is the judged change in all five scales when one dial is turned up (amplifier) or down (suppressor), as a share of the room available. A perfect dial is a single long spoke toward its own scale.
The three columns build the dials three ways: as directions on our chart, as our stage-one adapters averaged per pole, and as the deployed two-stage personas.
